Hi, I’m Dan Hetherington—father of four, lifelong problem solver, and founder of My Best Birthday.

As any parent knows, juggling family, work, and the chaos of daily life leaves little time for things like party planning. But every child deserves a birthday they’ll never forget. That’s why I created My Best Birthday—a one-stop directory for all things kids’ parties. From entertainers and venues to cakes, decorations, and everything in between, we make it easy to find what you need, fast.

This all started over 15 years ago when my sister pulled off a legendary birthday party for my nephew—a firetruck party complete with firefighter gear, music, and real hoses. It was epic. But when I asked how she found it, she said it took weeks of searching. That stuck with me. Parents don’t have weeks. They barely have minutes.

So I built the tool I wish she’d had—a place where busy parents can find trusted, creative birthday services in one scroll, not one hundred tabs.

It wasn’t easy. As a single dad back then, I didn’t have the time, the funds, or the tech access to bring the idea to life. But over the years, technology evolved, web tools became more accessible, and here we are.
